Christine is a social worker in the local school system. In the past
2 years, she has noticed an influx of refugee children from Chile,
many of which did not speak English. On numerous occasions,
children have come to her office stating that they were not
allowed to get lunch. When Christine spoke with the cafeteria
supervised, she was informed that many of the children had
paperwork that was incomplete or incorrectly filled out and they
would just have to go hungry until their parents "figured it out...".
Christine could not believe how her school was handling this
situation. Christine spoke with the local community center and
made arrangements for a meeting. Flyers were passed out in
Spanish inviting parents and children to attend. A translator was
on site to assist parents with completing all necessary paperwork
