Lasting Effects of World War I
Lasting Effects of World War I
The Treaty of Versailles and World War II
At the end of World War I, a treaty called the Treaty of Versailles was made. It blamed Germany for the war and made them pay a lot of money and reduce their military. This made Germany angry and led to feelings of pride and nationalism. Other countries were also affected as new countries were created, which struggled to find stable governments. The United States didn't join the League of Nations, weakening its ability to prevent future wars. All of these things together played a part in causing World War II.
Why did the Treaty of Versailles make Germany angry?
It granted Germany territorial gains.
It required Germany to increase its military.
It held Germany responsible for the war and imposed heavy penalties.
