Over a Cup of Coffee
Leonida R. Orosco
"Please, prepare two cups of co fee, Ode.", his father says as he wipes the table.
1 "I want black. I want to kick this morning off," he jokingly adds.
Household chores and being independent is not a problem to Rodel. When he was younger, ne might have struggled over some serious tasks at horr e, but later on he got used to them and has become a good housekeeper. This is something that his father is proud of.
2 "I remember when you were tut a small child, Ode", his father begins a serious conversation, "You were so active that you would jump, run, and iroll with all your might. I can still recall how you ran after your rnom and rolled on the dirt when you stumbled because of the wrong pair of slippers you're wearing."
3 Rodel gently puts each cup of coffee on the table as he bursts into laughter, "Nyahahahahaha! I don't remember any of that. What I do remember is the time we had in a park. I think it was at Luneta Park ivhere you handed me a cotton candy. That is the oldest jicture I have in my memory, Dad."
4 "Give me that coffee", his father says. He is not satisfied with the strength of his coffee. Rodel added some sugar into it absent-mindedly. Rodel a jologizes that he was not in his own mind earlier.
5" What seemed to be the prob em with you, lately?", his father finally inquired.
