Pressure Angle for all four gears is 20° and the shaft is 1.00 inches in diameter (Hint:
Gear Diameter = Number of Teeth/Pitch)
a. Determine the tooth loading $W_t$ and $W_r$ for each for gear pairs 1 and 2, and gears
3 and 4. (10 points)
b. Determine the loading on the shaft due to the $W_r$ and $W_t$ gear forces and draw
both top and front view Shear and Bending Moment diagrams (10 points)
c. Using Mohr's circle, determine maximum stress seen in the shaft. Provide
Principle Stresses 1 and 2 and Max Shear Stress only. Do not draw the
Principle Stress or Max shear elements (unless you want to). (10 Points)
