For each of the following questions (questions 8-11), provide:
i) the statistical test you used to address the study hypothesis
and a description of why you chose the test (for example, one
sample vs. two samples, parametric vs. nonparametric, paired vs.
unpaired, one-tailed vs. two-tailed), ii) your null and alternative
hypotheses, iii) significance level and rationale, and iv) your
conclusions in the context of the study and evidence that supports
your conclusions (test statistics & p-values) and biological
significance. Show work.
1. Ten ears of corn were randomly sampled at a farm to determine
if the corn contained harmful levels of mycotoxin. Using the
provided data (E2_Q9.txt), test the hypothesis that corn mycotoxin
concentration at the farm is greater than the public safety
standard of 2 ppm. (15 pts)
(note: we use the R-program for this class to do the statistical
testing)
