Make a directory in your home directory. Copy files in directory /etc that have the word "conf" in the file name to the newly created directory. Give permission of read, write, and execute to the owner, read and execute to the group, and only read to other users for the files you just copied. Delete that directory with the files in it (or you can first delete the files and then remove the directory). Go to the root directory, then go to your home directory by absolute path. Go to your home directory and create a new file with vi named as your initials (for me it would be as.txt). Get into insert mode, write your name and surname five times on the same line. Paste the line to the clipboard and paste the same line five times. Search for your surname in the document, and search for the next occurrence with "next".

Find the list of processes that are created by your account and redirect that list to processes.txt. Find all files that are larger than 20MB and redirect the list to BigFileList.txt. Find all files that have an update time in the last one week and redirect the list to UpdatedFileInLastWeek.txt.
Look at the last added 10 lines to /var/log/syslog file. Be the root user.

Show that it has changed. Change the modification and access time of the /etc/hosts file to the current date and time. Show that it has changed.

Make a tar archive for your files in your home directory. Show the contents of the tar archive without extracting it, and also show the size of it. Compress your tar file with one of the compression programs and show the size of the compressed file. Delete one of the noncritical files in your home directory. Extract that file from the compressed archive file (you may do it in more than one step).
