ASSIGNMENT #2
An ideal Diesel cycle has a compression ratio of 20, and the heat input $q_{in}$ to
the working fluid is 1600 kJ/kg. The Diesel cycle is unthrottled, so at the start of
compression $P_1$ = 101 kPa, $T_1$ = 298 K and m=1 kg. Assuming the working fluid
is air with constant properties;
a) Calculate the P, T and V at each state points.
b) Calculate the cycle efficiency and imep.
c) What are the crank angles at the start and end of combustion process.
d) Draw a Pressure (P) vs. Crank Angle ($\theta$) diagram (-180:180)
e) Draw a Temperature (T) vs. Crank Angle ($\theta$) diagram (-180:180) on the
same graph of (P-$\theta$).
*Choose vertical left axis as P, rigth axis as T and Horizontal axis as angle $\theta$
*Use approximate volume relation.
