General Considerations:
Time divided equi-slots, each slot can hold a fixed length packet.
Be p=0.4 the independent probability of each of the 5 PCs that will attempt to transmit a single packet.
Three possible mutually exclusive events are considered:
Channel Idle: 5 PCs not transmitting in the same time slot.
Collision: 2 or more PCs transmitting in the same time slot.
Transmission packet: Only 1 PC transmits in the same time slot.
If it is assumed that the events follow a Binomial distribution, calculate:
Probability of the channel that is idle in a slot of time.
Probability of transmission of a packet in a slot of time.
Probability of a collision in a slot of time.
The probability P that maximizes the throughput.
