The right to be informed of your counselor’s qualifications (education, work experience, licenses, and certifications)
The right to be informed of the details of the counseling relationship (fees, time commitments, policies, and client responsibilities)
The right to be treated respectfully and humanely
The right to be informed of your condition and potential treatment options
The right to consent to or refuse treatment
The right to confidentiality and to be informed of the limitations on that confidentiality
The right to ask questions about any treatment
The right to access to the client’s records
The right to terminate the relationship at any time
The right to a second opinion
The right to contact information for emergencies
The right to a copy of that agency’s statement of client rights
The right to safe treatment free from abuse
The right to file a grievance in the event of a violation of a client’s rights
