Problem 4
Exam I-ME322
212-semster
(10 pts.)
An arc welding shop receives an order to fabricate 300 steel water tanks, each of 2m' size, To set up the
welding process for this specific request, a preparation time of 1 hour is needed. The arc welding process
uses consumable welding electrodes, where the replacement time of each electrodes is 10 seconds. The
welding work of each water tank takes 1 hour and consumes 8 welding electrodes, and the handling time
for each water tank is 20 minutes. The welder and welding machine costs SR100 per hour including
overhead and each welding electrode costs SR5. If one water tank is found to be defective out of each 20
tanks, and the availability of the welding machine is 75%, then
a- Find the cycle time for each water tank in minutes. (1 point1)
$T_c = T_h + T_r + T_o \implies 20 + 60 + 1.33$
$T_h = 20$
