According to Dawkins, females are unlikely to abandon their biological offspring which they have with a male who has moved on to other females and does not contribute to the rearing of the offspring because,
The male in question would see it as an act of revenge and society teaches females that taking revenge is not a nice thing to do.
Females are being paid back handsomely in old age when their biological offspring will take good care of them.
By providing the larger gamete and undergoing a pregnancy they are heavily invested in the reproductive project and by abandoning it and letting it die, they would minimize their own reproductive output instead of doing what their bodies are programmed to do by their genes, namely, maximizing it.
