Assess the below study in terms of the research dimension I to V covered in the course. For each dimension, give your selection and a one or two-sentence rationale for each choice based on the article (1 point for each dimension). 1) Dimension I. What is the purpose of this study among the following?: Descriptive study, Explanatory study, or Evaluative study 2) Dimension II. What is the level of control in this study among the following?: Naturalistic study or Experimental study 3) Dimension III. What is the sample size and composition in this study among the following: Single subject study, Single Group study, or Multiple group study 4) Dimension IV. What is the repetition of data collection in this study among the following: Cross-sectional study (single occasion study) or Longitudinal study (repeated occasions study) 5) Dimension V. What is the methodological orientation of this study among the following: Quantitative study or Qualitative study Dr. Fraser and his colleagues studied the effectiveness of a multicomponent intervention designed to disrupt developmental processes associated with conduct problems and peer rejection in childhood. Compared with 41 children randomized to a wait list control condition, 45 children in an intervention condition received a social skills training program. They evaluated the program using a pre-, post-, and follow-up design. At the same time, their parents participated in an in-home family intervention. Compared with control group children, intervention children demonstrated significant improvements on five of six outcome measures. Differences between the experimental and control groups suggest the programs strengthen children's prosocial behavior, promote their ability to regulate emotions, and increase social contact with peers. Intervention also was associated with significant improvements in classroom comportment and decreases in relational aggression, a measure of coercion in peer relationships. The findings are consistent with those of other programs effective in interrupting risk processes associated with conduct problems in childhood and early adolescence.
