Using Punnett Squares, show Mendel's F1 crosses that led to the outcomes on which he based his findings. BE SURE to include any genotype and phenotype ratios that were reported from the experiments. Use the appropriate cases of the letters 'P or p' for pea flower color (purple is dominant to white) and 'T or t' for plant height (tall is dominant to dwarf) for the appropriate alleles in your work. You do NOT have to fill in the squares, simply set up the arrangements of gametes and the square.

The following is a dihybrid cross: a pea plant with purple flowers and green pods is crossed with a pea plant with white flowers and yellow pods. The F1 plants all have purple flowers and green pods. On a piece of paper, draw the Punnett square depicting the selfing of the F1 plants to give the F2 plants. After the Punnett square is drawn, circle the squares representing the plants with purple flowers and yellow pods. Make sure to indicate what phenotypes the letters represent.

Use the Punnett square to predict the outcome of the heredity. A heterozygous tall pea plant is crossed with a homozygous short pea plant. What are the phenotypes of their F1 offspring? a. Draw the Punnett square b. What is the genotypic ratio of the offspring? c. What are the phenotypes of the offspring? d. Is there a chance that these parents will have a short pea plant offspring? Explain your answer. e. If you monohybrid cross two offspring in the F1, would you get the same outcome of offspring? Why?

In pea plants, purple flowers (P) are dominant to white flowers (p) and yellow peas (Y) are dominant to green peas (y). What are the possible genotypes and phenotypes for a cross between PpYY and ppYy pea plants? How many squares do you need to do a Punnett square analysis of this cross?
