1. In their paper, the authors make the following statement regarding two types of adipose tissue: “Brown fat is a heat generator and distributor; white fat is a fuel depot and heat capacitor.” Provide a physiological explanation for this description of brown and white fat. In other words, explain how brown fat generates heat and how that heat is distributed in the body. In addition, explain how white fat functions in fuel storage and how it can help the body store heat. Incorporate into your explanation why these two forms of adipose tissue are called white and brown. Be sure it is clear in your answer why both types of tissue are beneficial to mammals.
