Alright, so we're going to be talking about the four main types of tissues in the human body.
00:06
We're going to start off with some of the easy ones.
00:10
So here we have muscle.
00:12
This is exactly what you think it is.
00:15
These are the tissues of the body that help motion, that help you move.
00:21
Now it's not only for the motion that you choose to do, like your skeletal muscles will help you do.
00:31
These are the muscles that help you write, that help you talk, that help you lift your arm up, walk, jujitsu, whatever it is.
00:39
Skeletal muscles are there to help you do all of your motor functions.
00:43
But it also includes things like cardiac muscle.
00:48
Cardiac muscle is the specialized muscle that is for your heart and that's the only place we find it in the body.
00:53
Obviously we know that your heart is a muscle and in order for it to move and pump, it requires muscle tissue.
01:01
But we also find it throughout the body as smooth muscle.
01:05
This is one that we don't consciously think about or even talk about very much.
01:10
But smooth muscle is really important for your digestive system.
01:16
It's the muscles that help move your digestive system along, help move food through everything.
01:22
It's the muscle that lets the hairs on your arms in the back of your neck stand up when you're cold or when you're scared.
01:31
So you have smooth muscle all throughout the body.
01:33
These are examples of types of muscle tissues that you will find.
01:36
So another easy example, one that we know of, is nervous tissue.
01:42
And it's not nervous tissue because it is scared and nervous or anxious, but it's nervous tissue because it is for your nervous system.
01:49
So it is responsible for a lot of the signaling and the messages throughout your body.
01:59
And so the big areas that we find nervous tissues are obviously your brain, which is your central nervous system, and also your spinal cord, which is your peripheral nervous system.
02:13
And you also have nerves all throughout your body.
02:15
This is how you can feel things when you touch them.
02:18
It's how you can sense light and see things with your eyes...
