1. (True or False) Adjacent nucleotides are joined by covalent bonds that form between the –OH group on the 3' carbon of one nucleotide and the phosphate on the 5' carbon of the next. 2. (True or False) If a solute is in an aqueous solution, then by definition, a hydration shell has formed around it. 3. (True or False) When exposed to water, phospholipids will self-organize into lipid bilayers and spheres.

Text: Respond to each sentence with true or false regarding the replication of DNA: Complementary base pairing relies on the number of hydrogen bonds that each base can make. In a single nucleotide, the phosphate group is attached to the 5' carbon of the sugar unit. The antiparallel arrangement of double-stranded DNA is due to the phosphate group being bonded to the 3' carbon on one strand and the 5' carbon on the complementary strand. The phosphate attached to the 5' carbon of a given nucleotide links to the 3'-OH of the adjacent nucleotide. The -OH group on the 3' carbon of the sugar unit is the attachment site for the nitrogenous base.

1. Bacterial cell's lipid inclusions are surrounded by a bilayer membrane. 2. Electrochemical gradient during energy metabolism is made of the charge as well as the chemical component. 3. Endotoxemia refers to the ability of a bacterial cell to secrete endotoxin. 4. RTF (resistance transfer factor) is a part of the bacteriocin plasmid. 5. Cytochrome and ubiquinone participate during the fermentation pathway. 6. Substrate-level phosphorylation occurs during glycolysis and a few ATP are made.
