Explain why you should always be using the scanning objective lens when you start observing your specimen?

3b) Why is it important to use the lowest magnification of 4X objective lens to bring specimens/samples slides placed on the stage into focus? 3c) Bright-field, Dark-field, Phase-contrast and Fluorescence microscopy are all types; 1. Light microscopy 2. Electron microscopy

In order to correctly use a compound light microscope, there are a number of techniques and tips that should be understood. You will need to adjust the amount of light coming in through the opening in the stage. For example, often too much or too little light can result in a poor image of the specimen. The part of the microscope that controls how much light comes through the specimen is called the condenser. You should begin with the lowest power objective lens in place. Another tip to remember is that you should never use the knob while the highest power objective lens is in place. Doing so could drive the lens into the slide, damaging the slide and possibly ruining the lens. Finally, when moving your microscope from the cabinet to your lab bench, you should always carry it with two hands - one hand on the base and one hand on the arm. The ocular lens has a magnification of 4X. Therefore, if you were viewing a fly wing specimen through your light microscope using an objective lens with a magnification of 10X, the total magnification would be 40X.
