1. What would you expect to have happened if Mendel had worked with only partially linked genes? 3. If two loci show a 50% recombination frequency in a two-point test cross, what could happen? 2. Which of the following is best to test linkage between two loci? A. monohybrid cross. B. dihybrid cross. C. cross with at least 3 loci.

Step 1
This is because partially linked genes are located closer together on the same chromosome, making it less likely for them to undergo crossing over during meiosis. Show more…

Mendel used dihybrid crosses to test the idea that alleles for two different characters assort independently. In a typical dihybrid cross (such as RrTt x RrTt), what proportions of phenotypes would be expected in the offspring? a. 9:3:3:1 b. 4:4:4:4 c. 2:2 d. 3:1 e. 100% dominant phenotype

If one parent is Homozygous Dominant for a particular trait (AA) and the other parent is homozygous recessive (aa), what are the possible genotypes for their offspring? AA aa Aa 2. When a phenotypic ratio of 9:3:3:1 is observed in a dihybrid cross, how many of those individuals exhibit both of the dominant phenotypes? 9 6 1 3 3. Which of the following statements is correct in describing the terms monohybrid cross and dihybrid cross? A monohybrid cross results in a 9:3:3:1 ratio, whereas a dihybrid cross gives a 3:1 ratio. A dihybrid cross involves organisms that are heterozygous for two characters that are being studied, and a monohybrid cross involves organisms that are heterozygous for only one character being studied. A monohybrid cross is performed for one generation, whereas a dihybrid cross is performed for two generations. A monohybrid cross involves a single parent, whereas a dihybrid cross involves two parents.

In a monohybrid cross, Mendel crossed true breeding pea plants with tall and dwarf stems. All the F1 plants had tall stems. In a di-hybrid cross, Mendel crossed peas with round seeds and yellow cotyledons with peas with wrinkled seeds and green cotyledons. All the F1 plants had round seeds with yellow cotyledons. Diagram both of the above crosses through the F2 generation using Punnett Square and write an interpretation of Mendel's findings.
