3. A group of SACAP honours students are interested in exploring the relationship
between Social Media Addiction (SMA) and Jealousy. They administered the Adult
Attachment Scale (AAS) (Collins & Read, 1990) and the Multidimensional Jealousy
Scale (MJS) (Elphinston et al., 2011) to a random sample of n = 149 participants. Use this data set to run a hypothesis test at the 0.05 alpha level.
Include the following in your hypothesis test:
a. State the null and alternate hypotheses
b. State the design requirements and assumptions (assume assumptions have been
met)
c. State the decision rule
d. Compute the test statistic in Microsoft Excel and make a decision
e. State the conclusion
f. Calculate and interpret the effect size, if appropriate
