What is cancer? What are 3 to 4 major characteristics of a cancerous cell? How do they spread and what is this process called? What is radiation therapy for cancer and how do certain foods prevent the risk of cancer (Hint: think free radicals)? You need to know/understand the role of Oncogenes and Tumor Suppressor Genes. I said there will be a question on what will happen to the cells if the stimulators or inhibitors are turned on/off.

Fully explain the difference between a benign tumor and a malignant tumor. Include a description of metastasis in your answer. List the four classes of malignant cancers telling the type of cells that give rise to each and where in the body it may cause cancer.

How does a normal cell become a cancerous cell? What has to happen to it? Do mutations that cause cancer in an individual pass down to his/her offspring? What is the role of proto-oncogenes and tumor-suppressor genes in cancer formation and development? Explain the connection between telomerase activity and cancer.
List the ways that cancer cells differ from normal cells.
