Click on the statements below that are TRUE regarding fever. Interleukin 1-beta, interleukin 6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha all function as endogenous pyrogens. A person with a fever still regulates body temperature in response to heat or cold but at a higher set point. Hypothalamic signaling to adipocytes allows for shivering to occur in order to increase heat production. Aspirin reduces fever by inhibiting release of endogenous pyrogens. Drugs should not be administered to suppress extremely high fever because the high body temperature stimulates a large number of the body's defense responses to infection. The integrating center for homeostatic regulation of body temperature is located in the hypothalamus.
