The report "Raising Kids and Running a Household: How Working Parents Share the Load" (November 4, 2015, Pew Research Center, pewresearch.org, retrieved December 12, 2016) described a survey of parents of children under the age of 18. Each person in a representative sample of 825 working fathers and a sample of 586 working mothers was asked if balancing the responsibilities of a job and a family was difficult. It was reported that 429 (52%) of the fathers surveyed and 352 (60%) of the mothers surveyed said that it was difficult. The two samples were independently selected and were thought to be representative of working fathers and mothers of children under 18 years old. Use this information to calculate and interpret a 95% confidence interval estimate of the difference between the proportion of working fathers who find balancing work and family difficult, pā, and this proportion for working mothers, pā.
