As Lila's eyes continued to develop, she did not lose any of her vision. However, her left eye notably tended to drift medially (inward, toward her nose) when she was looking at something. Her pediatrician called it a strabismus and told her parents that one or more of her extrinsic eye muscles were not functioning properly. This, too, could lead to vision problems.
