If there is an increase in systemic blood pressure, the resulting stretch of afferent arterioles results in reflexive vasodilation of efferent arterioles to lower GFR. Vasodilation of afferent arterioles is necessary to keep GFR normal. vasoconstriction of afferent arterioles is required to keep GFR normal.
