generator producing 3000 kW of power. Water level in the supply
reservoir is 266 m above the centerline of the nozzle which has a
Cv=0.98. A head loss of 16 m is estimated for the penstock.
Assuming a generator efficiency of 92%, and overall turbine
efficiency of 91%, and that a speed ratio of 0.47 gives the maximum
efficiency, determine
i. The volume flow rate through the turbine
ii. The jet diameter at rated output
iii. The bucket pitch circle diameter (Pelton wheel
diameter)
