Because we normally learn best by example, let's look at an example of a psychiatrist who has decided to perform an experiment of her own.

Now, she takes her patients and she divides them into two halves.

So one half of the patients, she is giving 20 milligrams of a certain medicine.

The other half of the patients, she is giving 40 grams of this same medicine.

And she does this for six months and she takes data over this six months of all of the patients, you know, both have taken the different medicines, and she wants to see what is happening.

Now, her results are interesting, and we find that those who have the double dose of medicine, the 40 milligrams, have significant and consistent improvements more than the other half patients.
