A traction system is being designed for the FENAPO Zipline according to Figure 1. Calculate
the power required by the motor to move the 12 baskets. Consider that the total weight of
each basket is 300kg, including passengers, and the baskets are pulled on pulley B.
Design criteria:
The compression force of the steel cable against pulleys A+B is given by: Fc =0.52Wn, it is
applied horizontally and considers the vertical force effects due to the weight and angle of the
cable.
The coefficient of friction between the cable and pulleys A and B is: u= 0.2
The pulley ratio C/D = 10
The mechanical reducer coupled to the motor has an efficiency of 0.9 and a ratio of 20:1
Pulley C is coupled to the same shaft as B, without slipping, the pulley ratio is B/C = 2
The diameter of Pulley C is 1.5m
The mass of rollers and pulleys is negligible
Determine the minimum power of the motor to carry out the pulling work at a speed of 1200
rpm, indicate the nominal current that said motor will consume if it is three-phase and
operates at 460V. Work under some motor catalog.
