A urinalysis indicates a specific gravity of 1.030. Interpret this result by choosing the best or most appropriate statement: (1 pt) The urine is less concentrated compared to water This urine has about the same concentration compared to water This urine is more concentrated compared to water There is not enough information to compare this urine's concentration to water

A 4.000-mL urine sample has a mass of 4.160 g. If the normal range for the specific gravity of urine is 1.003 to 1.030, would the specific gravity of this urine sample indicate that the patient could have type 2 diabetes? Match the items in the left column to the appropriate blanks in the sentences on the right. 1.040 1.005 within 1.000 could not within 0.962 could not The specific gravity of this urine sample is calculated to be [ ]. This is [ ] the normal range for urine and indicates that this patient [ ] have type 2 diabetes.

1. Specific gravity is important for diagnosing various health conditions, such as dehydration. The normal specific gravity falls between 1.002 - 1.030. Mild dehydration is indicative from specific gravity that is greater than 1.010 and the higher the value the more dehydrated one may be. A 25 year old female patient was taken to the hospital with symptoms of extreme thirst, fatigue, and headaches. An 0.0077 liter urine sample was taken for the patient described above. The sample had a mass of 8.05 grams. a. What is the density of the patient's urine sample in units of g/mL? b. What is the density of the patient's urine sample in units of g/cm³? c. What is the specific gravity of the patient's urine sample. d. Based on your findings to (a) – (c), determine if the patient could be dehydrated or could the patient's symptoms be caused by different factors?
