00:01 Hello everyone in this question we will be talking about the refractive period.
00:07 So a refractive period is the period of time after an action potential begins during an excitable cell and the cell cannot generate another action potential in response to a normal threshold stimulus.
00:32 There are two phases of the refractive period.
00:36 One is the absolute refractive period in which even a strong stimulus cannot initiate a second action potential.
00:49 The sodium channel that is inactivated must return to the closed state and then only the next action potential can be generated.
01:05 Whereas in the relative refractive period, this is the time during which the second action potential can be initiated.
01:18 But the stimulus must be larger than the normal.
01:24 And in this, the voltage gated potassium channel is open.
01:29 So action potential follow all or none principle.
01:36 So let us plot a graph in which the x -axis represents the time and the y -axis represents the membrane potential...
