An unconscious young, pregnant lady is dropped off at the Emergency Department of Moraine Park Medical Center. Her pregnancy appears to be pretty advanced; probably 34 or 35 gestational weeks. She appears to be under the influence of some type of drug as she doesn't smell of alcohol. The people who dropped her off left right after getting her into the building. She has no purse, wallet or other means of identification. Her vital signs are: BP 220/150, P 120, Resp. 22 RPM, T 102. She is diaphoretic and begins to experience slight full body tremors. About 10 minutes later she vomits and begins seizing. She is diagnosed with a Grand Mal seizure and a cerebrovascular accident. Attempts to stabilize the patient were unsuccessful and the decision was made to perform an emergency c-section to save the baby. The baby was delivered without incident and transferred to the NICU. Before the mom can be admitted to the Neuro ICU she codes and dies.
