Pectoral Girdle (shoulder) Anatomy In the human body, the pectoral girdle, also known as the shoulder girdle, consists of the clavicle and scapula bones. These bones articulate medially with the sternum and laterally with the humerus. The main muscles attached to the pectoral girdle include the subclavius, pectoralis minor, and serratus anterior. Other muscles involved in shoulder movement are the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and teres minor. Within the upper limb, the humerus is the bone of the arm. It articulates with the scapula at the glenohumeral joint. The distal end of the humerus forms the elbow joint with the ulna and radius bones. What are the bones called that make up the distal end of the upper limb? The bones are called the carpals. What is the name of the muscle that extends the forearm? The muscle is called the triceps brachii. What is the function of the lateral epicondyle of the humerus? It is the attachment site for the muscles that extend the wrist.
