Seven-Segment Decoder
Objective: To develop 7-segment display through application of decoders and switches
A seven-segment decoder is used as an interfacing device to link the input stage to a seven-segment display. The block diagram of this system is shown in Figure 2.

At the input stage, four SPDT switches are used to generate 16 input combinations. Each switch can produce logical 0 or 1. At the control stage, the 7-segment decoder will interpret the inputs and decode the appropriate output data. At the output stage, the 7-segment display (common anode) will display the digit according to the code that is received from the control stage. Figure 2 shows the circuit for the system.
