This liver cell combines simple carbohydrates to form glycogen, creates lipids from glucose and amino acids, distributes amino acids to blood, and breaks down amino acids into glucose or triglycerides. 2. This cell produces gastrin in the stomach; gastrin stimulates secretion of gastric juices, GI tract motility, and pyloric sphincter opening. 3. This cell of the small intestine absorbs molecules through simple or facilitated diffusion as well as active transport. Microvilli on the apical surface increase its surface area. 4. This cell secretes cholecystokinin, a hormone that stimulates secretion of pancreatic juice, causes ejection of bile from the gall bladder, and inhibits gastric emptying. 5.
