Predict the outcome of a cross between tan seed coat color (AAbb) and gray (aaBB) seed coat color in lentils; (aabb) forms green-coated lentils. Explain how the coat color morphology is inherited.
Adi S.
Yellow seed color (Y) is dominant over green seed color (y). Parent 1 has green seeds and is a heterozygous plant. The genotype of parent 1 is Yy. Parent 2 has yellow seeds and is also a heterozygous plant. The genotype of parent 2 is Yy. Non-wrinkled peas (N) are dominant over wrinkled peas (n). Pea #1 is wrinkled, so its genotype is nn. Pea #2 does not have the wrinkled allele, so its genotype is NN. Brown fur (B) is dominant over white fur (b). Parent 1 is homozygous for brown fur, so its genotype is BB. Parent 2 is heterozygous, so its genotype is Bb.
