The Seasons are the result of the tilt of the Earth's axis. The Earth's axis is tilted by 23.5 degrees. Since the axis is tilted, different parts of the Earth are faced towards the Sun at different times of the year. During the month of June, the Sun's rays fall directly on the Northern Hemisphere. This results in summer season in the Northern Hemisphere and winter season in the Southern Hemisphere.
