Hello students the action potential in a neuron that has mainly three steps depolarization repolarization and hyper polarization when neuron that is in resting membrane potential or r mp that is around minus 70 mv so it will be having more sodium outside the cell and more potassium inside the cell.
00:44
So with the help of action potential, the information in the form of electrical signals are transferred in our body through the neurons.
00:53
So the first process here that will be the depolarization.
01:05
First of all, an action potential will be generated.
01:09
So before that we have to throw the different channels for the protein and sodium uptake and intake.
01:15
So here the shaded will be the channel for potassium and unshaded one for the sodium.
01:41
This will be the plasma membrane.
01:45
Now if we look into them, we can see during the depolarization an action potential is generated when the cell triggers neuron.
01:55
So due to this, the sodium channels will open and the potassium channels will be closed.
02:00
So when the sodium channels are open, the influx of sodium ions can be seen.
02:13
So from outside the cell, the sodium ions that will reach into the, so this is the outside and inside.
02:26
More sodium will reach in the inside.
02:29
So here, positive charge will be getting in inside of the membrane and negative charge outside the membrane.
02:39
So due to the entering of positive sodium ions, the inner side of neuron become positively charged and membrane potential becomes more positive near to plus 40 mv or even 0.
02:55
So this process is the depolarization process.
02:59
Second process is repolarization.
03:05
In repolarization process, so again i'm drawing the channels, more channels to be clear.
03:25
So here i have drawn four different channels...
