This technique is commonly used in genetic research and biotechnology. Artificial chromosomes: These are constructed using a silica matrix and can be synthesized using a DNA synthesizer. Artificial chromosomes are a suitable means of transporting large amounts of genetic material. They have been successfully used in human clinical trials.
