Hepatitis is a silent epidemic killing more people in the world than HIV and TB. It leads to the inflammation of the liver and can be caused by several different viruses. Public awareness that some forms can be sexually transmitted, while a lack of knowledge about transmission and treatment options has led to misinformation and fear about hepatitis. As a result, people often shy away from diagnosis, timely intervention and vaccine programs. As a public health official what necessary information would you provide to the general population to dispel the fear and confusion over Hepatitis A?
