Osteoporosis is a condition in which bone loses mass and mineral content. This leads to an increased risk of fractures, especially of the pelvis, vertebrae, and wrist. As the bone softens, affected individuals often develop a characteristic curvature of the spine. Eighty percent of those affected by osteoporosis are women. About one in four women will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime The topic of this discussion is to debate about risk factors and prevention of this disease. We can start this discussion with the following question: Why does this disease attack women more than men? Also discuss risk factors for osteoporosis, and methods of preventing it.
