Question 2 11 marks The hanger in Fig. 2 is made from three aluminium rods \( A B, C D \) and \( E F \). In addition, rigid beams \( A C \) and \( B D \) are attached as well as a spring at \( E \). Please note the following:
- Rods \( A B \) and \( C D \) have a diameter of 8.5 mm .
- Rod EF has a diameter of \( \mathbf{1 4 . 0 ~ m m} \).
- The spring has a stiffness of \( k=2.75 \mathrm{kMN} / m \) and is unstretched when \( \mathbf{P}=0 \).
Assuming \( E_{a l}=73.1 \mathrm{GPa} \) and linear elastic material behaviour, perform the following:
(a) Explain what is meant by the term "rigid beam", and how will it impact our calculations in this example.
