During the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918, herd immunity played a crucial role in controlling the spread of the disease. The Spanish Flu was an exceptionally deadly influenza pandemic that infected approximately one-third of the world's population at the time. It caused millions of deaths worldwide, with young adults being particularly vulnerable. At the time, there were no vaccines or antiviral drugs available to combat the Spanish Flu. However, as the pandemic progressed, those who survived the infection developed immunity to the virus.
