for the same neuron above, if a gocr was activated that led to the closing of k leak channels, what would happen to rhe resting membrane potential
Added by Shelly B.

- GOCR (Glycine-Operated Chloride Channel Receptor) is a type of ion channel that, when activated, typically allows chloride ions (Cl-) to pass through the membrane. Show more…

If the potassium leak channels were suddenly blocked in a resting neuron, what would happen to its resting membrane potential
Sri K.
In a normal neuron, the resting membrane potential is exactly equal to the equilibrium potential for K+ (EK) because the membrane is only permeable to K+ and no other ion. TRUE FALSE Consider a hypothetical neuron presynaptic terminal for which the equilibrium potential for Ca2+ was +125 mV. If the resting membrane potential of the presynaptic terminal was -60 mV, an increase in membrane permeability to Ca2+ would likely hyperpolarize the membrane, stimulate synaptic transmitter release, or have no effect on membrane potential. Consider a neuron with an ECl of -66 mV. If the resting membrane potential of the cell was -66 mV, a substantial increase in membrane permeability to Cl- would cause depolarization, cause hyperpolarization, or cause no observable change in membrane potential.
