Genetics Problems
Solve each of the following genetics problems, showing all work. Assume complete dominance, unless otherwise stated.
In pea plants, flowers can be purple or white due to an autosomal gene. Purple is the dominant color, from the allele T. If two plants with genotypes TT and Tt respectively undergo meiosis to form pollen and eggs, what is the genotypic makeup of the gametes for each parent?
Note: Mendel's Law of Segregation states that "factors segregate during gamete formation."
Gamete(s) from TT plant:
Gamete(s) from Tt plant:
2a. Using the information from question #1, what is the phenotypic ratio of flower color from a cross between two white flowering plants?
2b. What is the phenotypic ratio from a cross between two heterozygous, purple flowering plants?
