Gonorrhea is a gram-negative diplococcus, Neisseria Gonorrhoeae. Gonorrhea can cause pus discharge, inflammation, and painful urination for men and women. You'll find Gonococci in the pus, which is also how it is diagnosed. ELISA is also used to diagnose this infection.
Nongonococcal Urethritis (NGU) is gram-negative and is caused by Chlamydia Trachomatis. It is a sexually transmitted disease. This can cause painful urination, watery discharge, itching, and irritation in men and women.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is gram-negative and is caused by Neisseria Gonorrhoeae/Chlamydia Trachomatis. It can be sexually transmitted. This could cause odor, painful abdominal discharge, and sometimes nothing at all.
Syphilis is gram-positive and is caused by Treponema Pallidum and is sexually transmitted. Stage 1 - Sores at the site of infection, painless, shows 2-6 weeks. Stage 2 - Skin and mucosal rashes/patches, hair loss, fever, malaise, neurological problems. Latent Period: No symptoms, lasts years. Tertiary inflamed organs and tissues. Congenital: mental damage, neurological problems.
Lymphogranuloma Venereum (LGV) is gram-negative and is caused by Chlamydia Trachomatis and is sexually transmitted. Causes swelling and nodes in the groins.
Chancroid is gram-negative and is caused by Haemophilus ducreyi. It can be sexually transmitted. Causes pain and discomfort as well as discharges.
Bacterial Vaginosis is neither gram-negative nor positive and is caused by Gardnerella Vaginalis. This occurs when the pH balance is off-balanced, unclean sex, scented soap and powders, and lotions. This could cause a fishy odor, inflammation, and a gray-white discharge.
