How are lymphatic collecting vessels different from veins? Lymphatic collecting ducts carry lymph under higher pressure than similarly sized veins carry blood. Lymphatic collecting vessels contain more valves than do veins. Lymphatic collecting vessels are composed of tunica externa and tunica intima, whereas veins are composed of tunica intima, tunica media, and tunica externa. Lymph in lymphatic collecting vessels is propelled by contraction of skeletal muscles.

In what way do veins and lymphatic vessels resemble one another? How are they different?
How do lymphatic vessels and capillaries differ from other vessels and capillaries in the circulatory system? a. Lymph capillaries are larger in diameter than blood capillaries. b. Lymph capillary walls contain several layers of endothelial cells, which allows for efficient filtering of lymph. c. Lymph vessels are only distributed in specific regions of the body. d. Movement of lymph does requires skeletal muscle movement. e. The lymphatic system moves up to $8 \mathrm{L}$ of fluid through the bloodstream daily.
