In this video, we're going to talk a little bit about subcategories of ell students, english language learners.

We have three different categories.

Long -term english learners, l -t -e -l, recently arrived english learners, r -a -e -l, and students with interrupted formal education, sife.

So if you have a long -term english learner, that is a student who has been an ell student for greater than six years.

But still hasn't mastered the english language enough to be considered, proficient, and to move on to the next stage, so to speak.

So this might be the case if we have subpopulations.

Perhaps, for instance, if you have a native american student or, i don't know, an immigrant, i don't know.

Like, honestly, any of those categories can apply, depending on the situation.

Right? so someone who just gets to the country or someone who lives on a native american reservation and is exposed to schooling late and might have gaps in their learning and therefore they need long -term support.
