Watch the Ted-Ed video about The Trolley Problem. After watching the video, write a 2-page essay (at least 500 words) in which you describe what you would do in this hypothetical scenario. Your essay and answer should be based on critical thinking and ethical/philosophical theories discussed throughout the course. What is the right course of action? Why?
Akash M.
Consider the following thought experiment: You are a witness to a runway train. At the bottom is a flat bed truck stalled on the tracks with several men on board. They will be killed unless the train is diverted. You are able to reach the apparatus that diverts the train to a side track, but just as you prepare to switch, you realize that there is a little girl playing hopscotch on the side track. Utilize all of the major theories that we have studied and decide what will be your course of action. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of each theory.
