how does ecological succession may increase species within a community?
How does ecological succession occur? After disturbance destroys the same mature community, new species quickly colonize the area. One community of species alters the environment in the area, which can lead to ecological succession. Ecological succession takes place exclusively in localized areas. Ecological succession follows a predictable sequence. Ecological succession depends on the occurrence of periodic fires and the avoidance of optimal interspecies competition.
