If the father of the woman who was the mother of the colour blind child had normal vision how did the child end up as colour blind? Colour blindness is a recessive gene carried in the X - chromosome. A man with normal vision has a child with a woman that has normal vision. They have a child that is colour blind. The grandfather of the child was a carrier of the gene but did not have the condition. The grandmother of the child had to be a carrier of the gene. The mother of the child could not of had the gene as she had normal vision. The father of the child gave the colour blind gene to his child.

In humans, color vision is X-linked; the gene for color vision is located on the X chromosome but it is absent from the Y chromosome. Normal color vision (XN) is dominant over color blindness (Xn). Suppose a color blind man fathers the children of a woman with the genotype XNXN. a. What genotype is the father? b. What proportion of daughters will be color blind? c. What proportion of sons will be color blind? 5. One daughter from the preceding problem marries a color blind man. a. What proportion of their sons will be color blind? (Another way to think about this is to ask, what are the chances that their sons will be color blind?) b. Explain how a color blind daughter might result from this couple.

Color-blindness is an x-linked recessive condition. a man with normal vision is married to a woman with normal vision, but whose dad is color-blind. the couple has a child with turner syndrome, and who is also color-blind. where did the non-disjunction occur?

Red-green color blindness is inherited in an X-linked recessive manner. A woman with normal color vision has a father who is red-green color-blind. The woman has four sons, none of whom are color-blind. There are no individuals with abnormal chromosome numbers in this family. Is this a possible explanation for the result? Give the reason for your choice. Explanation: None of the sons are color-blind because none of them inherited the color-blindness allele from his mother.
