CD4 T cells can differentiate into a multitude of effector cells after they have encountered an antigen. NaĂŻve CD4 T cells initially respond to their antigens by making IL-2 and proliferating. These cells differentiate into a cell type known as TH0 cells, which have the potential to differentiate into four distinct functional subsets.
